AMD The company is in very uncomfortable situation as it seems Iranian government uses the company's technology for weapons development and management. Iran has built a supercomputer with 216 AMD Opteron processors, which according to spokesmen for the Asian nation is used to predict the weather. The team is in Tehran's Amirkabir University, the same that was involved in the study and design of rocket production for "scientific research" that could also be used in ballistic missile development. The company is worried that Iran has an embargo that prohibits companies like AMD to sell products and official records do not indicate approval for the sale of processors such that part of the world. The explanation is that a reseller in the UAE would be behind the incident, but still not confirmed this hypothesis.
